Ash Gupta has driven industry-wide innovation in credit/fraud risk, marketing, and customer experience and successfully transitioned American Express from traditional analytics to Big Data, Machine Learning, and AI.
Ash retired from American Express in 2018 after 40 years of continuous service and for many years was the Chief Risk Officer of the company reporting to the CEO and the Board. As the President of Global Risk and Information management teams, he was instrumental in navigating American Express successfully through the great recession. Early in his career, he was the chairman and CEO of the Company’s U.S. banks, overseeing more than $75 billion in assets.
He is currently, Chairman of Compensation Committee for Encore Capital Group (NASDAQ: ECPG), Chairman of the board for Corridor Platforms Inc., a board member of Nova Credit, and a Senior Advisor to Global Consulting firm, Oliver Wyman.
One of Ash’s critical expertise is to guide technology start-ups and venture funds to create winning partnerships by collaborating with public companies to build muscle in both innovation and execution.
Ash has an MBA from Columbia University and a B.Tech from IIT Delhi (distinguished alumni, 2006). Ash serves as a board member for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of New York and (as an advisory) board member for South Asian Youth Action. He and his wife reside in New York City.
