Arkin Net raises $15M in Series B from Nexus Venture Partners and strategic investors and launches platform to transform data center operations

  • Bridges the visibility gap between virtual and physical infrastructure
  • Brings Google Search-like simplicity to enterprises deploying software-defined data centers

Pune, India, June 3, 2015 Arkin, Pune – India and Silicon Valley – US based innovator in data center software today announced a $15 million Series B investment from Nexus Venture Partners, key strategic investors and industry veterans including B.V. Jagadeesh (formerly CEO at NetScaler).

Arkin also announced the availability of their Platform and Cloud Service, that brings unprecedented visibility and converged operations to software-defined data centers (SDDC).  With a radically simple Google Search-like experience, Arkin Platform enables organizations to rapidly search, analyze, share and collaborate across virtual and physical layers of their infrastructure. The platform can be deployed on-premise or consumed as a service in the Arkin cloud (SaaS).

Arkin founders are veterans when it comes to building enterprise-grade, industry-leading solutions. Arkin has assembled a world-class team of engineers and architects from diverse backgrounds including virtualization, networking, enterprise software, cloud scale social platforms and consumer design. The Arkin advisory board consists of industry luminaries including Alan Cohen (CCO at Illumio and formerly VP Marketing at Nicira), Dheeraj Pandey (Founder and CEO, Nutanix) and Denis Murphy (VP Sales, Nimble Storage).

“Arkin is unlocking the true potential of software-defined data centers by bringing in data driven visibility, cross domain analytics, and power of collaboration that was largely unknown to the siloed world of IT Operations.  We are thrilled to have partnered with the Arkin team right from inception and look forward to helping them build a category leading company”, said Jishnu Bhattacharjee, Nexus Venture Partners and Board Member of Arkin. The company was co-founded by IITians Shiv Agarwal, Mukul Gupta, Rohit Toshniwal and Abhijit Sharma who have been a part of VMware, Microsoft and Amberpoint(acquired by Oracle) previously.

The Widening Gap Between Infrastructure and Operations

Converged infrastructure and software-defined approaches are all the rage.  However, these transformational technologies have exposed severe limitations in the traditional operations approach and tools.  Key challenges include missing visibility across the virtual to physical boundary, an expensive and inefficient silo based approach to IT operations and an archaic user experience that inhibits necessary modern day collaboration. “Organizations now are forced to rethink their operations strategy,” said Shiv Agarwal, CEO and Co-Founder of Arkin. “Based on a modern collaborative approach, the Arkin platform ties together the datacenter silos across virtual and physical. Some of the largest enterprises have deployed Arkin to simplify their operations and unlock significant cost savings and agility.”

Introducing Arkin Visibility and Operations Platform

The Arkin Platform has been designed and built with one principle in mind – radical simplification of data center operations. With Google Search-like simplicity and consumer-class collaboration, Arkin delivers seamless operations for converged infrastructures and software-defined data centers built using technologies such as VMware NSX, Cisco UCS, VCE Vblocks, Palo Alto Networks firewalls and others.

“Arkin has built the perfect bridge that connects the old to the new, the virtual to the physical while providing an intuitive and collaborative platform to operate the software-defined data center”, said Srini Koushik, President & CEO at NTTi3.

Key benefits delivered by the Arkin Platform are:

  • Instant and comprehensive search across entire datacenter (virtual and physical) for operational visibility, rapid troubleshooting and consistent security
  • Easy on-ramp to micro-segmentation based security model based on real time flow analysis
  • Seamless collaboration across the IT silos of compute, network, security and storage
  • Quick time to value with easy install, no agents and choice of on-premise or cloud deployment

“We believe network virtualization will bring about radical improvements in network operations.  Arkin is a great example of how you can build a new generation visibility platform and we’re delighted to have them as an NSX partner”, said Martin Casado, SVP and General Manager for the Networking and Security Business Unit at VMware.
